Senior Accountant Position Description

Elgee Rehfeld (ER), is an Alaska based full-service accounting firm, with 30+ years of experience, provides industry-focused assurance, tax and advisory services for private, non-profit and government clients. Our firm is located in the breath-taking, though rainy, Southeast region of Alaska. Summary. Senior accountants are generally focused in a single area of the firm, which include audit/attest, tax, general ledger, consulting, etc. We work with the professional to ensure they are setting and achieving their long-term career goals.
Work Hours/Conditions. Moderate to low overtime required throughout the year. High level of overtime may be required to complete audit and tax engagements during peak seasons. Work may be performed in the firm’s office or on client’s premises. Work on the client’s premises may require the use of the staff member’s personal car.
Required Experience. Senior Accountants normally have two to five years of experience in public accounting and may or may not be a licensed CPA. Other experience includes:
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat and QuickBooks (both desktop and online).
- Sharp analytical skills and strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, be technically competent and self-motivated and effectively present information and respond to clients’ needs.
- Ability to plan, organize and work on multiple engagements simultaneously.
- Experience using online research resources and understanding of the research process.
Required Education. Senior accountants should have a minimum of a college undergraduate degree and have completed at least 30 hours in college-level accounting courses or no college degree but with extensive prolonged, demonstrated use of accounting knowledge.
